Purpose:

Have you been looking for a comprehensive program that provides valuable information about the NIH Grants Process, including such topics as how to apply for and manage an NIH grant application, grant writing for success, the latest in NIH peer review, compliance, and how to interact electronically with NIH?  What about an opportunity to meet and discuss grants issues with approximately 25 HHS and NIH officials?

The NIH offers two regional seminars each year that focus on topics related to NIH extramural program funding and grants administration.  In April, the first Regional Seminar for 2009 was held in Atlanta, Georgia.  Therefore, this Guide Notice is a reminder that the Regional Seminar in Las Vegas, Nevada will be the last this year.  The optional NIH electronic Research Administration (eRA) computer workshops for principal investigators and administrators offered on Wednesday, June 24, have reached capacity and are no longer available.  However, there are ample opportunities throughout the 2-day seminar to visit with eRA experts on-hand to assist you with your eRA Commons and electronic submission questions.

The NIH Regional Seminars are designed for those new to the NIH grants process, including sponsored project office and departmental administrators, investigators, graduate students, etc.  However, it is also an opportunity for those more experienced to obtain updates on grants policies and procedures, as well as network with peers and NIH Faculty.

Registration is open until June 11, 2009 and space is limited.

Registration SiteThe registration fee for the 2-day seminar is $450.  Check out the site for more registration details, as well as the Program agenda and information on the hotel and transportation options. Co-ambassadors for this event are the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the University of Nevada, Reno.

These seminars provide an unparalleled opportunity for participants to gain a better perspective of NIH policies and programs, network with their peers, gather helpful NIH contacts, and to return to their offices and/or labs with inside information, resources, and tools to assist in obtaining and managing NIH awards.
