DELAYS IN GRANT APPLICATION SUBMISSION DUE TO AN EARTHQUAKE IN THE SEATTLE AREA

Some institutions have closed operations due to the recent earthquake 
in Seattle.  In addition important services have been interrupted.  The 
NIH realizes that this may cause problems for investigators who are 
planning on submitting grant applications for March 1.  Applications 
that are submitted late because of the earthquake should include a 
cover letter noting the reasons for the delay.  It is not necessary to 
get permission in advance for earthquake-related delays in grant 
application submission.
