Purpose
The National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) intends to publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) to solicit applications for support of P30 Centers of Excellence. The P30 Centers of Excellence program seeks to build sustainable programs to enhance research infrastructure and centralized resources in support of nursing science. This FOA will focus on studies relevant to multiple chronic conditions in adult populations.
This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects.
The FOA is expected to be published in Summer 2017 with an expected application due date in Fall 2017.
This FOA will utilize the P30 activity code. Details of the planned FOA are provided below.
This Notice encourages senior Nurse Scientists (e.g., PhD or DNSc) who are faculty in a College/School of Nursing and with expertise in biobehavioral science to begin to consider applying for this new FOA focused on multiple chronic conditions in adult populations.
The NINR P30 Centers of Excellence program consists of Centers located at outstanding research institutions with documented programs of excellence in nursing science.
The P30 Centers of Excellence will: 1) support the expansion of sustainable interdisciplinary, biobehavioral research capacity for conducting nursing science, 2) refine and support ongoing development of centralized research resources and infrastructures, and 3) conduct pilot studies that will develop into new programs of research by independent investigators.
All activities pursued by the P30 Centers of Excellence are designed to enhance the efficiency, productivity, effectiveness and dissemination of nursing science. One way to improve the impact of research in nursing science is to provide the investigators with a common set of tools and resources to facilitate sharing, comparing and integration of data. Thus, this FOA is specifically designed with the intent to support the next phase of the NINR Common Data Element (CDE) data harmonization effort (https://cde.nlm.nih.gov/form/search?selectedOrg=NINR ). Among the areas of research encouraged in this initiative are studies that will incorporate the use of specific NINR CDEs collected from human subject research in adults with multiple chronic conditions.
APPLICATIONS ARE NOT BEING SOLICITED AT THIS TIME.
