Part 2. Section I. Funding Opportunity Description

Scope

NINR
For this FOA, NINR is particularly interested in:

  • Palliative care interventions and care models that examine and address the impact of older age on outcomes and adherence
  • Interventions that introduce care “early” (closer to the point of diagnosis) for older patients or their caregivers
  • Interventions that address transitions across the palliative care continuum, and take into account unique needs related to end of life issues (e.g., advance care planning and communication relating to advance care planning)
  • Testing the acceptability and effectiveness of palliative care strategies across gender or ethno-cultural perspectives among those who are old, old-old, and oldest-old

Interdisciplinary collaborations that include nurse scientists in the project team are strongly encouraged. Additionally, applicants should consider engaging the resources and expertise of nearby or otherwise available Clinical and Translational Science Award grant sites (CTSAs) and/or federally funded research centers where possible.
