Purpose

This Notice is to inform potential applicants that the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) intends to participate in a new Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), PAR-10-257, "Chronic, Non-Communicable Diseases and Disorders Across the Lifespan: Fogarty International Research Training Award (NCD-LIFESPAN) (D43)" issued by the John E. Fogarty International Center (FIC).

NINR would like to strongly encourage Schools of Nursing to consider applying for these opportunities.

  • NINR supports basic and clinical research that develops the knowledge to build the scientific foundation for clinical practice, prevent disease and disability, manage and eliminate symptoms caused by illness, and enhance end-of-life and palliative care. NINR places great emphasis on research training to cultivate the next generation of nurse scientists, as well as other biobehavioral researchers whose work advances nursing science. NINR supports opportunities for research training for students beginning their research careers, as well as for scientists seeking to expand their research expertise.

Participation in the D43 Funding Opportunity Announcement by the Organizations, NIH Institutes, Centers and Offices listed in the FOA PAR-10-257 continues, unaffected by this notice:

National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)

Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS)

All other aspects of the FOA remain unchanged.
