With regard to conferences and scientific meetings focused on areas of research relevant to the NIMH mission, NIMH will support applications that increase diversity and promote inclusivity within the research workforce (see NIMH Support for Conference Grants (R13) to Promote Inclusion in the Research Workforce for full details):

Conference grant application should request funds for the following two activities:

  • Conference attendance, including travel-related expenses for students, postdoctoral trainees, and recently hired junior faculty within two years of their academic appointment, with a particular focus on advancing the participation of women and individuals from underrepresented groups, as described in NOT-OD-20-031.
  • AND
  • Structured activities that support attendees professional development (e.g., educational opportunities, formal networking, specific programming events) in order to increase diversity and promote inclusivity within the research workforce.
