Purpose

The purpose of Notice is to inform applicants a change in the Research Objective Section in PAR-20-027, Genetic Architecture of Mental Disorders in Ancestrally Diverse Populations (Collaborative U01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed).

Section I. Funding Opportunity Description

Research Objectives:

Current Language: Specifically, this FOA seeks to support the genetic and clinical characterization of subjects with highly-heritable severe mental illness (e.g., schizophrenia, autism and bipolar disorder) in global populations of African ancestry on the African continent for the purpose of enhancing efforts to fine-map genetic risk loci across the allelic spectrum.

New Language: Specifically, this FOA seeks to support the genetic and clinical characterization of patients with severe mental illness in global populations of non-European ancestry for the purpose of enhancing efforts to fine-map genetic risk loci across the allelic spectrum.

All other aspects of the FOA remain the same.
