Purpose
The purpose of this notice is to inform potential applicants of NIMH's priorities regarding human genomics research and basic research following up on mental disorder-associated genes. This guidance refers to the recommendations of the National Advisory Mental Health Council (NAMHC) Genomics Workgroup Report presented at the January 25, 2018 NAMHC meeting (see NAMHC Workgroup on Genomics Report; a briefer Research Recommendations Summary, and a Director's Message).
Program Directors/Principal Investigators (PD/PIs) planning to submit applications involving human genomics research or biological studies following up on mental disorder-associated genes, are strongly encouraged to inquire via email at NIMHGenomicsPriorities@nih.gov prior to submission of an application.
Applications adhering to the recommendations of the NAMHC Workgroup on Genomics Report will be prioritized for funding consideration over applications that do not meet these standards.
