Purpose
The National Institute of Mental Health will reissue PAR-11-126 "Silvio O. Conte Centers for Basic or Translational Mental Health Research (P50).
This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to assemble teams of researchers to develop responsive projects.
This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) will utilize the Specialized Center (P50) activity code and must be submitted electronically (see NOT-OD-13-074 and NOT-OD-13-075).
This funding opportunity will encourage teams of researchers working at different levels of analysis and employing integrative, novel, and creative experimental approaches to address high-risk, high-impact questions with the primary objective of: (a) advancing the state of the science in brain and behavior research that will ultimately provide the foundation for understanding mental disorders; (b) supporting the integration and translation of basic and clinical neuroscience research on severe mental illnesses; and/or (c) advancing our understanding of the neurobehavioral developmental mechanisms and trajectories of psychopathology that begins in childhood and adolescence.
Applicants may request maximum annual total costs of up to $2,000,000. The optional summer research experience/outreach programs will no longer be offered as part of the institute's Conte Centers program.
