Purpose

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) intends to issue a Request for Applications (RFA) for Epigenomic Modifications in Neurodevelopment. This award is intended to support projects that characterize epigenetic events involved in neurodevelopmental processes providing insight into critical windows of neuroplasticity.  Studies will identify epigenome-wide marks associated with early environmental influences and vulnerability to mental disorders.  Cross-species analysis and studies that address tissue and cell-type specificity are encouraged. Projects supported through this initiative are expected to be aligned with the research priorities and gap areas identified in the NIMH Strategic Plan (http://www.nimh.nih.gov/about/strategic-planning-reports/index.shtml).

This notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects.

The RFA is expected to be published in the summer of 2010.  This RFA will utilize the R21 award mechanism.

APPLICATIONS ARE NOT BEING SOLICITED AT THIS TIME.
