The purpose of this notice is to extend the expiration dates for PA-07-085 (R01) and PA-06-392 (R21) - Research on Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorders until September 8, 2009.
An extension is being made at this time to allow for approval and adoption of the Strategic Plan for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Research, which was mandated by the Combating Autism Act of 2006 (P.L. 109-416). Through this Act, Congress intended to rapidly increase, accelerate the pace, and improve the coordination of scientific discovery in ASD research. Once the new Strategic Plan is adopted, goals from it will be incorporated into updated FOAs for ASD research. These FOAs will be updated and reissued to ensure that they reflect the most current priorities for ASD research.
Extending these Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) until September 8, 2009 will also coincide with the expiration dates of the R03 (PA-06-391) FOA of the same title. After the September 8, 2009, all applicants must apply in response to the updated FOAs, if issued.
