The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) announces the discontinuation of PAR-06-389, “Basic and Translational Research Opportunities in the Social Neuroscience of Mental Health” (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-06-389.html) effective as of the date of this notice.  An RFA, with very similar goals is expected to be published soon.  The RFA is expected to have the same receipt dates for 2007 and 2008 (September 25) as was listed in the PAR.

The NIMH intends to commit approximately $2 million dollars in each of the next two fiscal years in order to fund approximately 4 – 6 new grants each year, in response to the new RFA.  Applicants are urged to check the NIH Guide for the publication of the new RFA and to consult program staff concerning responsiveness following its publication.  Review of the RFA will be conducted within the NIMH Division of Extramural Activities.
