The purpose of this Notice is to inform the extramural community about new budgetary limits being placed on the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Centers Programs. Specifically, new budget limits are being placed on Total Costs per year for the NIMH P20, P30, and P50 Centers Programs. New, resubmission (amended), and competing renewal applications (Type 1 and Type 2) for the P20 Center programs will be capped at $1 million Total Costs/year. New, resubmission (amended), and competing renewal applications (Type 1 and Type 2) in P30 and P50 Center programs will be capped at $2 million Total Costs/year. Both caps on funding include facilities and administrative (F&A) costs for consortia/subcontracts.

AIDS-related Center applications and Centers supported in either NIH Roadmap or NIH Blueprint activities, are exempt from this new NIMH restriction.

Non-competing (Type 5) applications that exceed $2,000,000 in Total Costs will be allowed to complete their remaining years of support as originally approved, but must conform to the new guidelines for all subsequent submissions for these Center mechanisms.
