Notice Number: NOT-MH-05-012

Key Dates
Release Date: May 16, 2005

Issued by
National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), (http://www.nimh.nih.gov/)

The purpose of this notice is to clarify the description of the required Research Methods Core. This core is intended to provide administrative, methodological, and scientific consultation specifically for the proposed center's major investigative technique (e.g., genetics, neuroimaging, pharmacology, animal models, etc.). If appropriate, applicants may include the development of new methodologies in this core, if the overall scientific goals of the CIDAR are dependent on such. The Research Methods core should be clearly justified as integral and necessary to supporting the accomplishment of the proposed science.

If more than one major scientific technique is required to accomplish the general scientific aims of the center, it may be appropriate to propose a second core, the Optional Special Scientific Procedures Core , as described in the original announcement. As with the Research Methods core, the Optional Special Scientific Procedures Core should be clearly justified as integral and necessary to supporting the accomplishment of the proposed science.
