Part 2. Section I. Funding Opportunity Description

Research Objectives

The following information has been added:

Specific Areas of Research Interest for NIMHD: NIMHD is interested in supporting multi-level, multi-domain research (see the NIMHD Research Framework, https://www.nimhd.nih.gov/about/overview/research-framework.html) that examines the biology of aging and aging-related health disparities in NIH-designated U.S. health disparity populations (Blacks/African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, American Indians/Alaska Natives, Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders, socioeconomically disadvantaged populations, underserved rural populations, and sexual and gender minorities). Toward that end, NIMHD will help support the establishment of collaborative networks and research resources that integrate the research that has defined the biological hallmarks of aging together with human genetics, behavioral and epidemiological research to focus on understanding and addressing accelerated aging in health disparity populations. For awards that involve pilot projects, NIMHD co-funding may be used to support approved pilot projects only if those studies focus on U.S. health disparity populations (see above) and do not involve animal studies.
