Purpose

This Notice provides prospective applicants with clarifications for funding opportunity announcement (FOA) RFA-MD-11-005, NIMHD Resource-Related Minority Health and Health Disparities Research (U24).

I. Global Health Research Initiative

  • Applicants are encouraged to foster collaborative relationships with foreign academic institutions and/or non-government organizations or other relevant entities.
  • The proposed work must involve research-related activities that take place outside of the U.S. The U.S. territories and possessions (e.g. Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam) are considered part of the U.S., and therefore, applications that propose work only in these areas are not responsive to this FOA.
  • U.S. domestic activities done in conjunction with international research activities (e.g., an epidemiologic study drawing from domestic and foreign catchment areas, research activities at both domestic and foreign sites) are supported under this FOA.

II. Eligibility under Data Infrastructure and Information Dissemination on Health Disparities Research Initiative

Only independent non-NIMHD-affiliated organizations are eligible to apply under this category. Affiliated organizations include those that have active NIMHD grants, cooperative agreements, or contracts with project periods (not in no cost extension) ending after September 30, 2011.

All other aspects of this FOA remain unchanged.
