Purpose

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) will hold an informational webinar on Thursday, September 22, 2011, 2:00 - 3:00 PM Eastern Time, as part of events commemorating NLM's 175th Anniversary. The goal of the session is to provide information to prospective applicants about NLM's Career Development Awards and Research Project Grant Programs. This session is especially directed to postdoctoral trainees and recent graduates from NLM's university-based training programs, and to other Early Stage Investigators (ESIs) and New Investigators (NIs). NLM staff will provide an overview of these programs and answer questions from prospective applicants. The relevant Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) are as follows:

NLM Independent Career Development Award for Biomedical Informatics (K22) (PAR-10-195)
NIH Pathway to Independence (PI) Award (K99/R00) (PA-11-197)
NLM Express Research Grants in Biomedical Informatics and Bioinformatics (R01) (PAR-11-208)
Research Project Grants (NIH Parent R01) (PA-10-067)

The webinar is open to all prospective applicants, but participation is not a prerequisite to applying. Prospective applicants who plan to participate in the session should send an email to nlmepwebinar@mail.nih.gov by Monday, September 12, 2011, expressing their interest, in order to receive logistical information such as log-in information. Please put "ESI Webinar" in the subject line of your email and include your name, institution, and email address.
