The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Appropriation Act for Fiscal Year (FY) 2006, Public Law 109-149, limits the amount of direct salary for individuals under an AHRQ grant or cooperative agreement or applicable contract (hereafter referred to as a grant) to Executive Level I of the Federal Executive Pay scale.  HHS has not received an appropriation for FY 2007 and is currently operating under a Continuing Resolution (CR) that applies the terms of the FY 2006 Appropriation Act to the period covered by the CR.  The Executive Level I annual salary rate is $183,500 for the period of January 1, 2006, through December 31, 2006.  Effective January 1, 2007, the Executive Level I salary level increased to $186,600.  When HHS receives its appropriation for FY 2007, AHRQ will publish a Notice providing information on any statutory provisions that limit the use of AHRQ grant funds including any limits on direct salary in FY 2007.
