Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to communicate the NHLBI Policy regarding investigator-initiated submission of collaborative (tethered) R01 applications. Effective immediately, collaborative applications submitted to NHLBI via PA-16-160 with identical research strategies will be Withdrawn (and will not proceed to review) due to violation of policies concerning overlapping applications (described in detail in NOT-OD-09-100).

Alternatively, collaborative (tethered) R01 applications can be submitted to NHLBI via PA-16-160 as a single, multi-PI, R01 application with a subcontract.
