The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) intends to promote a new initiative by publishing a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) which will support implementation research for heart, lung, blood, and sleep (HLBS) diseases in the acute care hospital setting. This FOA proposes to support planning activities for hybrid effectiveness-implementation trials in the inpatient setting.
This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop responsive projects.
The FOA is expected to be published in June 2017 with an anticipated application receipt date in October 2017.
This FOA will utilize the U34 activity code. Details of the planned FOA are provided below.
The intended FOA will seek applications to support planning activities for hybrid effectiveness-implementation trials to evaluate the effect of an implementation strategy aimed at increasing provider adherence to an evidence-based practice(s) on implementation and clinical outcomes.
Applicants will be required to have a multidisciplinary research team that includes both inpatient clinical research expertise and implementation research expertise.
At the conclusion of the U34, awardees and other qualified applicants will be eligible to apply for the subsequent U01 grant which will support the trial.
