Purpose

This Notice is to announce the intent of the NHLBI to hold a meeting on February 1, 2017, from 1-3 pm, EST, in Bethesda, Maryland to discuss possible partnering relationships between the NHLBI, investigators participating in the PrecISE network for severe and exacerbation prone asthma (see RFA-HL-17-009 and RFA-HL-17-010), and public or private entities who may be interesting in collaborating.

The NHLBI is planning to make awards that will allow the Network to begin in September 2017 with a goal of protocol initiation in the last quarter of 2018. The PrecISE network will conduct sequential, adaptive, phase II/proof of concept clinical trials with precision interventions in stratified patient populations. The Network will utilize patient phenotypes and/or endotypes, predictive, and monitoring biomarkers/profiles in sequential adaptive trials to evaluate the most effective precision intervention strategies for this hard to treat patient population.

The purpose of the meeting is to explore potential areas in which collaboration will advance the scientific missions of PrecISE and interested parties. The general structure and scientific focus of the PrecISE network will be described, and there will be a discussion of the interests and goals of the Institute and the public/private entities represented at the meeting in this scientific area, with identification of possible areas of collaboration. These might include (but are not limited to) novel approaches to the use of therapeutics, biomarker development, and sample procurement in well characterized populations. The goal of the meeting is to develop partnerships and collaborations to enhance feasibility and develop a new treatment paradigm for patients with difficult to treat asthma.

Public or private entities interested in attending should provide confirmation to attend, with participant contact information, to the contact below.
