Purpose

This Notice informs potential applicants responding to PA-10-061, Midcareer Investigator Award in Patient-Oriented Research that beginning with K24 applications due on February 12, 2011 and thereafter, NHLBI will have revised policies regarding Renewal applications and the maximum level of effort that will be supported.

1. Beginning with New (Type 1) K24 applications submitted to NHLBI for the application date of February 12, 2011 and beyond, the total maximum length of K24 support will be 5 years. NHLBI will not accept Renewal (Type 2) applications for these K24s. NHLBI will accept Renewal (Type 2) applications for K24s that were awarded in FY 2010 (last day September 30, 2010) or earlier.

2. NHLBI will only accept new K24 applications submitted to NHLBI February 12, 2011 and thereafter that request 3.0 calendar months effort (25%). Applications requesting above 25% effort will not be reviewed.

All other aspects of this FOA remain unchanged and participation by other NIH Institutes continues, unaffected by this Notice.
