The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) announces that effective June 2, 2006 new K22 applications will no longer be accepted by NHLBI in response to Program Announcement PAR-02-154 entitled “NHLBI Career Transition Award (K22).” The final receipt date for new applications for this PA is June 1, 2006 . Revised K22 applications in response to PAR-02-154 will not be accepted after March 1, 2007.

NHLBI is participating in a new transition award entitled, “NIH Pathway to Independence (PI) Award (K99/R00)” described at https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-06-133.html. Investigators who were considering a K22 may want to consider the K99/R00 mechanism. The first date for receipt of applications in response to PAR -06-133 is April 7, 2006 .
