GUIDANCE ON FORMAT FOR APPLICATIONS IN RESPONSE TO RFA HL-04-004, CLINICAL RESEARCH CURRICULUM AWARD RELEASE DATE: October 3, 2003 NOTICE: NOT-HL-03-016 National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) (http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov) APPLICATION RECEIPT DATE: January 16, 2004 In response to questions regarding the format for applications in response to Request for Applications (RFA) HL-04-004, Clinical Research Curriculum Award (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-HL-04-004.html), the following guidance is provided: The format and outline for the narrative section of the application is given in the RFA in the third paragraph under "Submitting an Application." Basically, the narrative section should address: 1) Didactic Courses, 2) Institutional Commitment, 3) Career Development Plans, 4) Availability of Participants, 5) Research Environment, 6) Instruction in the Responsible Conduct of Research, and 7) Program Effectiveness. Do not exceed 25 pages for this section. If tables are included as part of the application, these should be numbered consecutively and be inserted at the end of the narrative section. These tables will not be counted toward the page limitation. Examples of tables which may be included are: Lists of Participating Faculty, their departments and courses they teach; Lists of Pending and Current Funding by the participating faculty; Previous Training Record of the K30 program; and Trainee Publications.
