NATIONAL HEART, LUNG, AND BLOOD ANNOUNCES INACTIVATION OF PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENTS RELEASE DATE: April 18, 2003 NOTICE: NOT-HL-03-008 National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) regularly reviews its portfolio of active Program Announcements (PAs). When the objectives of PAs have been attained, NHLBI announces inactivation of those PAs. NHLBI supports highly scientifically meritorious applications in all areas of research within its mission. Except when otherwise noted below, PA inactivation simply means that special consideration for funding beyond normal paylines will NO LONGER be given to applications on the research topics identified in the inactivated PAs. However, such applications will be accepted, reviewed, and considered for funding according to standard NIH and NHLBI proceedings for investigator-initiated research. At any time, potential applicants can obtain a current listing of active NHLBI PAs on the NHLBI www site at URL: http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/funding/inits/index.htm. INACTIVATIONS The following program announcements (PAs) are being inactivated; NHLBI will no longer give special consideration for funding to NEW UNAMMENDED applications in response to these PAs. This notice is effective immediately and applies to the application receipt deadlines of July 1, 2003 and after. ONLY AMMENDED Type 1 applications will continue to be accepted after July 1, 2003 for up to the second revision (i.e., applications attaining the suffix, -01A2).
