Purpose

This Notice is to inform the research community that NHGRI’s Ethical, Legal and Social Implications (ELSI) Research Program will host a public pre-application webinar to provide an overview of a new Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO): RFA-HG-24-028: Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications (ELSI) Congress (U13, Clinical Trials Not Allowed) 

The purpose of this NOFO is to support the organization of the next series of Ethical, Legal and Social Implications (ELSI) Congress meetings in 2026, 2028, and 2030. The proposed conference will: 1) provide the multidisciplinary ELSI research community with a dedicated conference to come together and share research findings; 2) encourage collaboration across the ELSI research community with particular attention to trainees and early career scholars; and 3) provide a highly accessible format to ensure participation from a broad range of groups interested in ELSI research. The ELSI Congress is anticipated to be a multi-day research conference comprising a mix of invited plenary lectures, submitted individual presentations, panel sessions, and poster sessions, but may involve other innovative components as well.

During the webinar, NHGRI staff will provide an overview of the ELSI Congress NOFO purpose, goals, and application requirements.  NHGRI staff will also answer attendees’ questions. A recording of the webinar, presentation slides, and a list of Questions and Answers (Q&A) will be made available after the webinar on the webinar event page.

Participation in the webinar is optional and is not required to submit an application.
