Purpose

The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) intends to renew the Centers for Mendelian Genomics Program (http://www.genome.gov/27546192) by publishing a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA).  The FOA will solicit applications for establishing and operating state-of-the-art Centers for Mendelian Genomics to identify the genetic basis of Mendelian diseases.  This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to prepare responsive applications.

The FOA is expected to be published in the winter of 2015 with an expected application due date in the spring of 2015.

The FOA will utilize the UM1 activity code. Details of the planned FOA are provided below.

Research Initiative Details

The FOA will encourage investigators with expertise in large-scale sequencing or other genomic approaches based discovery of genetic variants underlying Mendelian diseases, experience in managing research collaborations, and experience in dissemination of genomic data and methods, to begin to consider submitting responsive applications.

The FOA will encourage collaborative investigations with worldwide clinicians and geneticists on ascertainment of samples and patients of a broad spectrum of Mendelian diseases, data analysis that lead to identification of the underlying genetic variants, and validation of the identified underlying variants.

APPLICATIONS ARE NOT BEING SOLICITED AT THIS TIME.
