National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI)

The purpose of this Notice is to alert the scientific community about
changes in the NHGRI Genome Scholar Development and Faculty Transition
Award (K22). Effective immediately, the NHGRI: (1) will not accept
applications for Faculty Transition Awards only and (2) will only
accept applications for the combined Genome Scholar Development and
Faculty Transition Award that meet the following criteria: (a) the
research must be primarily devoted to developing (rather than applying)
new technologies or bioinformatics tools in the areas of genomics,
proteomics or functional genomics; (b) the applicant must request a
minimum of one year of postdoctoral support; and (c) the applicant must
not have accepted a tenure-track position at the time of award. All
other eligibility criteria remain the same. Please visit this website
for additional information about this program:
https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-99-022.html
are strongly encouraged to contact program staff about their plans for
submitting applications during the very early stages of the application
process.

This program is currently undergoing review and this restructuring is
an interim measure. The future of this program will be evaluated
within the next twelve months by a group of scientists external to the
NHGRI and by the National Advisory Council for Human Genome Research.
The results of that review will be shared with the community.
