Participation of NICHD in RFA-ES-11-010 (R21) and RFA-ES-11-011 (R01), Environmental Influences on Stem Cells in Development, Health, and Disease
Release Date: October 20, 2011
Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD)
This Notice is to inform potential applicants that the NICHD announces its participation, effective immediately, in RFA-ES-11-010 (R21) and RFA-ES-11-011 (R01), Environmental Influences on Stem Cells in Development, Health, and Disease.
The Components of Participating Organizations section of RFA-ES-11-010 (R21) and RFA-ES-11-011 (R01) have been revised to include NICHD:
93.865
Research Objectives
NICHD plans to support novel research leading to improved understanding of the effects of environmental exposures on unipotent (gonocyte, spermatogonia, oogonia), multipotent (primordial germ cells, epithelial, and mesenchymal gonadal stem cells), and pluripotent (embryonic stem cells, iPSC, differentiation into germ cell lineage) stem cells throughout development (preimplantation and postimplantation embryonic periods, fetal, early postnatal, pubertal, adult). As exposure in utero during preimplantation and/or postimplantation may be associated with results distinct from exposure during puberty or adulthood, studies investigating the Windows of Susceptibility (e.g. age - associated and/or latency periods) are of importance. Studies of potential transgenerational effects (including genetic or epigenetic aspects) are also encouraged.
Section II. Award Information
NICHD intends to commit a total of $300,000 to fund up to two awards for fiscal year 2012. Future year amounts will depend on annual appropriations.
All other aspects of these FOAs remain unchanged.
