The purpose of this notice is to announce a workshop relevant to the 
forthcoming NICHD Request for Applications (RFA) on "Developing Study Designs 
to Evaluate the Health Benefits of Workplace Policies and Practices." This RFA 
will be released shortly; general information about the related research 
initiative can be found at 
http://www.nichd.nih.gov/cpr/dbs/well_being_conference.htm. Information about 
the workshop and all discussion topics will be available from the contact 
listed below upon request; attendance at the workshop will not be a 
requirement for submitting an application in response to the RFA.

July 22-23, 2004, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, in the Natcher Building, Room E1/E2, 45 
Center Drive, Bethesda, MD 20892

Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Centers for Disease 
Control and Prevention.

Description  

The first day will be devoted to presentations and discussions of possible 
health outcomes and the current best scientific practices for measuring them. 
The second day will be spent considering the current best scientific practices 
in experimental and quasi-experimental designs for interdisciplinary social 
and behavioral research. The presentations will be aimed at methodological 
specialists. The goal of this workshop is to encourage the capabilities of 
potential applicants to submit competitive applications.
