Purpose

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) announces the phase-out and termination of its participation in the NIH Method to Extend Research in Time (MERIT) Award (R37) Program.

Effective immediately, no new nominations for NIGMS MERIT awards will be made.

There are no changes for current NIGMS MERIT awardees. All non-competing commitments for future year support made to current NIGMS MERIT awardees will continue to be honored as indicated in the current Notice of Award. Additionally, MERIT extensions will continue to be considered according to NIGMS policy.
