Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to inform applicants of several changes in the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) support of Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) institutional predoctoral training grants (T32) effective January 26, 2018. These changes include:

1. NIGMS will no longer accept applications (New, Renewal, Resubmission or Revision) for institutional predoctoral training grants (T32) in basic biomedical sciences disciplines under the NIH parent T32 Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) (PA-16-152 and subsequent reissuances), except as indicated below.

2. All predoctoral T32 training grant applications in basic biomedical sciences disciplines from institutions that were previously or are currently supported with NIGMS-funded predoctoral T32 training grants must be submitted under the new NIGMS-specific T32 FOA (PAR-17-341).

3. Applications (new as well as those from established programs) in response to the new NIGMS T32 FOA (PAR-17-341) must be submitted as new (-01) applications.

4. Applications submitted as Renewal applications (Type 2) by any program under PAR-17-341 will not be accepted for review.

Applicants for NIGMS predoctoral T32 training grants in basic biomedical sciences disciplines should check the NIGMS website for the new and continuing areas of interest for the Institute.

NIGMS will continue to accept institutional predoctoral T32 applications for integrated predoctoral dual-degree M.D.-Ph.D. training through the Medical Scientist Training Program through PA-16-152 and subsequent reissuances.
