This Notice clarifies participant eligibility for the Initiative for Maximizing Student Development (IMSD) R25 Program (PAR-14-121). IMSD is an institutional award that seeks to prepare students from backgrounds underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral sciences for competitive research careers, with the over-arching goal of enhancing the diversity of the biomedical, behavioral and clinical research workforce. The purpose of this notice is to clarify the students who are underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral sciences.
Consistent with NIH policy to enhance diversity, any reference to students from underrepresented backgrounds in the IMSD FOA refers to students from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups; individuals with disabilities; and individuals from economically, socially, culturally, or educationally disadvantaged backgrounds as stated in the NIH Research Supplements to Promote Diversity in Health-Related Research Program. Additional background information can be found at https://grants.nih.gov/training/faq_diversity.htm.
All other aspects of this FOA remain the same.
