The purpose of this notice is to announce an update to the institutional eligibility criteria for the Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (RISE) awards (see PAR-06-548).  Effective for the May 15, 2007 application submission/receipt date, community colleges which offer degree programs and curricula with a strong focus on biomedical or behavioral sciences are eligible to apply for a RISE grant. The maximum budget (annual direct costs) that can be requested in a RISE application from a community college is $250K.  All other eligibility criteria, including that the institution has a student body that is 50% or more from groups underrepresented in biomedical or behavioral research, remain unchanged.

Applicants are strongly advised to review the RISE program announcement (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-06-548.html) and frequently asked questions (http://www.nigms.nih.gov/Minority/MBRS/RISEFAQ.htm) before applying for a RISE award.
