The purpose of this Notice is to inform potential applicants that the National Eye Institute (NEI) will participate in PAR-19-343, "Maximizing Opportunities for Scientific and Academic Independent Careers (MOSAIC) Postdoctoral Career Transition Award to Promote Diversity (K99/R00 - Independent Clinical Trial Not Allowed)" effective with the June 12, 2021 application due date.
Under this FOA, NEI supports eligible postdoctoral investigators who will transition to tenure-track faculty (or the equivalent) positions to conduct research in the NEI mission areas NEI Grants and Training. Other Award Budget Information
For mentored (K99 phase) candidates at an extramural institution, Salary Support: NEI will provide salary support commensurate with the applicant institution's salary structure for persons of equivalent qualifications, experience, and rank. Research Support: Up to $25,000 per year.
For independent (R00 phase) candidates at an extramural institution, NEI will provide up to $249,000 of support per year (total costs). This amount includes salary, fringe benefits, research costs, and applicable indirect costs. Applicants must obtain an offer for a tenure-track or equivalent position by the end of the K99 phase to be eligible for R00 support.
