Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to inform grantees about a change in policy to the NEI Institutional Mentored Physician Scientist Award (K12) program. The following applies to grants in which the competing application will be awarded in FY 2016 and beyond.

1. A Scholar may be appointed for up to three years.
2. No new Scholar(s) can be appointed in the last year of funding.
3. Individuals may receive up to 6 years of aggregate Career Development grant-support including any combination of support from a NEI Institutional Mentored Physician Scientist Awards (K12) and Mentored Clinical Scientist Research Career Development Awards (K08) or Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Awards (K23).
