National Institute on Aging (NIA) , (http://www.nia.nih.gov)

The NEI has terminated its use of the Small Grant (R03) mechanism, effective immediately. Investigators who wish to submit applications for small research projects that can be carried out in a short period of time with limited resources should consider using either the R01 Research Project Grant or the R21 Exploratory/Developmental Grant mechanism.

The long-standing NEI Small Research Grants for Data Analysis (R03) program, previously announced as PAR-03-019, http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-03-019.html, will be reissued as an R21 Exploratory/Developmental grant program. This change will be announced in the NIH Guide to Grants and Contracts and in the FIND portion of http://www.Grants.gov in time for transition to use of the SF424 (R&R) form for the June 1, 2006 receipt date. The NEI will continue to support investigator-initiated R21 applications under the NIH Omnibus Solicitation, PA-06-181, http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-06-181.html.

APPLICATIONS ARE NOT BEING SOLICITED AT THIS TIME.
