Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to update the extramural community of the intent of the NIEHS to lengthen the Superfund Hazardous Substance Basic Research and Training Program (P42) Center grant review cycle frequency. Since 2006, the Superfund Research Program (SRP) P42 has been on an annual review cycle. The NIEHS intends to solicit applications every 2.5 years. Awards will be made for up to 5 years in duration.

NIEHS proposes these changes in order to strengthen the breadth of the scientific portfolio and to improve efficiencies in the fiscal management of the Program. The overall objective of the SRP remains to achieve its Congressionally-mandated scientific goals and to align with the NIEHS Strategic Plan in a continued robust manner.
