Purpose
The purpose of this Notice is to inform potential applicants that the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) has joined the funding opportunity announcement PAR-13-109, entitled "Mechanistic Insights from Birth Cohorts (R01)."

The following sentence is revised by the addition of "environmental toxicants" to state:
"Emerging epidemiological evidence has shown that prenatal exposures such as placental function, maternal over- or under-nutrition, maternal physical activity behaviors, maternal exposures to environmental toxicants and maternal sleep disorders may be associated with an increased risk of chronic diseases in the offspring, either as a child or adult."
