Notice Number: NOT-ES-10-007
Key Dates
Release Date: February 5, 2010
Effective Date: May 25, 2010
Issued by
National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), (http://www.niehs.nih.gov/)
Beginning with applications submitted in response to the May 25, 2010 receipt date, Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Institutional Research Training Grants (T32) will no longer be required to establish a set ratio of predoctoral to postdoctoral trainees as defined in NOT-ES-06-007. Training Directors may request a training program of the size and scope which can be justified by the research setting and funding base. Submission of T32 Training programs which support only predoctoral training will be allowed.
Requests to change the ratio of predoctoral to postdoctoral slots on funded T32 training grants or T32 training grants which have already undergone competitive review but have not been funded will not be allowed. Changes to the ratio of predoctoral to postdoctoral slots can be made at the time of the next competitive review.
The expectation of the base of funded grants to support the number of training slots requested in NOT-ES-06-007 will not change. NIEHS also re-emphasizes its support for interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and integrated approaches to environmental health sciences in the training programs it funds.
