Program Description
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) is announcing a limited competition for administrative supplements to active NIEHS U45 Worker Education and Training cooperative agreement awardees with supported projects for the Brownfields and Minority Worker Training Program that can demonstrate the capacity within their existing training activities to further enhance workforce development activities for individuals affected by Hurricane Katrina and provide training and employment opportunities in Brownfields assessment and cleanup related work. For this program, $800,000 dollars is available and no request can exceed $400,000 in total costs. Support is limited to one year.
Requests should be sent to NIEHS by November 30, 2005 . Funds may be requested to support construction job training and environmental job training activities for residents affected by Hurricane Katrina in the states of Louisiana , Mississippi , Alabama , and Texas . The purpose of these administrative supplements is to develop an integrated education and training approach that will address worker safety and immediate and long-term health and employment concerns arising from Hurricane Katrina.
