CENTER RELATED WORKER EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAMS

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) is 
announcing a limited competition for administrative supplements to 
active NIEHS U45 Worker Education and Training cooperative agreement 
awardees that can demonstrate previous or current training response 
activities at the World Trade Center (WTC) that resulted from the 
terrorist attack of September 11, 2001.  Six million in funds have been 
appropriated by Congress under PL 107-117 to support this one-time 
solicitation.  Funds may be requested to support demonstrated WTC 
training response activities for education and training of new and 
current Hazmat teams for the New York City Fire Department, training 
environmental remediation workers, health and safety training for site 
cleanup workers, training and certification in the use of personal 
protection equipment in the cleanup effort, and weapons of mass 
destruction training for the Hazmat workforce.  The purpose of these 
administrative supplements is to develop an integrated education and 
training approach that will address immediate and long-term worker 
health protection concerns arising from the September 11, 2001 
terrorist attacks on the WTC.
