Personnel Costs

Clarification on personnel costs from PAR-17-221 are as follows. As the activities associated with this FOA, including the design and implementation of the program, are considered a regular part of an academician's activities, salary for faculty, including the Program Director(s)/Principal Investigator(s) (PD(s)/PI(s)), is not allowed for the academic year or the summer. Support towards the salary of a non-faculty administrative coordinator(s) and/or evaluator(s) may be requested up to $5,000 annually. This total of $5,000 is the only personnel cost allowed by this FOA which is focused on providing support for student participants.

Other Program-Related Expenses

NIBIB will provide up to $5,000/year annually for PD(s)/PI(s) to travel to conferences on STEM education, specifically with the goal of disseminating outcomes of the ESTEEMED program and to interact with similar educational programs’ leaders. Other program-related expenses will be provided for unique materials and resources that are specifically required by the proposed program, and not for items generally expected to be available at the applicant institution (such as printing paper or computers). These can include costs related to workshops/seminar, tutors, publications, outreach, outside evaluator/consultants, program-specific material and supplies, and must be appropriate for the goals and size of the program.

All other aspects of this FOA remain unchanged. For additional information or guidance visit the
