This notice extends the current program announcement, PAR-04-140 (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-04-140.html) for two additional receipt dates. Eligibility criteria and requirements for submitting an application remain the same. This notice also serves to clarify the submission of amended applications and the peer-review process.

Amended Applications: Applications previously submitted in response to PAR-04-140 that were not selected for funding are eligible to revise and resubmit to this program (PAR-04-140). In addition to the one-page introduction required for all supplemental applications, revised applications must also include an Introduction to Revised Application, not to exceed one page.

Peer Review Process: Applications that are complete and responsive to this PAR will be evaluated for scientific and technical merit by an appropriate peer review group convened by the NIBIB in accordance with the peer-review criteria stated in the PAR. All applications will:

Undergo a selection process in which only those applications deemed to have the highest scientific merit, generally the top half of applications under review, will be discussed and assigned a priority score.
Receive a written critique.
Receive a second level of review by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering staff.
