Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to inform the applicant community of a change in eligibility requirements for principal investigators for the K01 Mentored Research Scientist Development Award.  Beginning with applications submitted January 25th, 2025 and beyond, the NIDDK will no longer require minimum or maximum amounts of post-doctoral research training.  Applicants may apply at any time during their post-doctoral experience, provided they can strongly justify the need, or continued need, for an intensive, supervised, research and career development experience.

Prospective applicants continue to be strongly encouraged to contact NIDDK program staff to discuss relevance of the proposed studies to NIDDK's mission interests and appropriateness of the K01 for accomplishing their overall career development goals.
