PAR-20-220: Institutional Network Award for Promoting Kidney, Urologic, and Hematologic Research Training (U2C-Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

Issued by

National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK)

Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to inform the community of a change to the application instructions relevant to submitting information to the Training Component for PAR-20-220, to provide clarification on the funding mechanism (U2C), and to provide clarification of the FOA title.

Change to the Application Instructions

The application forms package originally posted with this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) did not include the appropriate required forms for the NRSA Training (Training Core).

To address this issue, we have posted a corrected application package identified by a Competition ID of ‘FORMS-F-REVISED’. Applicants who have initiated applications using the original (FORMS-F) package must move to the FORMS-F-REVISED application package to successfully submit.

Note: ASSIST and many institutional system-to-system solutions allow application data to be easily copied from one application package to another. If using ASSIST, contact the eRA Service Desk if you need assistance using the ASSIST Copy feature.

Clarification of Funding Mechanism (U2C) and FOA Title

PAR-20-220 “Institutional Network Award for Promoting Kidney, Urologic and Hematologic Research Training (U2C-Clinical Trial Not Allowed)”, invites applications for a U2C award with multiple components. These components include: 1) Administrative Core, 2) Professional Development Core, 3) Network Core, and 4) NRSA Training (Training Core). If an application is selected for funding, the NRSA Training Core will be funded as a separate award (TL1), in conjunction with the associated U2C award (to support the remaining three cores). The proposed Project Lead for the NRSA Training Core will become the Principal Investigator/Program Director of the TL1. The U2C and TL1 awards will maintain separate budgets.

The mechanism cited in the title of this FOA (U2C-Clinical Trial Not Allowed) reflects the singular nature of the application process. In other words, there is NOT a separate application process for the TL1 nor is the mechanism a phased award. The TL1 is linked to the U2C and considered a component of the U2C application.

The Grants.gov posting of this Funding Opportunity Announcement has been revised to reflect the appropriate title – “Institutional Network Award for Promoting Kidney, Urologic, and Hematologic Research Training (U2C-Clinical Trial Not Allowed)” – as it has appeared correctly on the PAR-20-220 webpage and to facilitate searches for this FOA through Grants.gov.

Change to Name of Training Component in Application Instructions

References to the “Training Core” in the Application Instructions have been updated to reflect the appropriate name for the component – “NRSA Training (Training Core)”. All instances of this change are included below.
