The date of conversion of the K mechanisms to the Grants.gov/NIH electronic submission process has been delayed (see NOT-OD-07-038). The funding opportunity announcement (FOA), PAR-05-066 NIDDK Mentored Research Scientist Development Award (K01) had been scheduled to be re-issued in conjunction with the previously set conversion date of the K mechanisms.  As a result of the delay of that conversion, the expiration date of this FOA  is being extended to January 8, 2009.  NIDDK will continue to accept paper applications in response to this FOA (see: Standard Postmark/Submission Dates for Competing Applications) until this mechanism is converted to electronic submission via Grants.gov  using the SF 424 Research and Related (R&R) forms. Updates on the status of the transition to electronic submission are posted on the NIH eRA Electronic Submission of Grant Applications Web site.

In addition, NIDDK has recently increased the maximum amount of salary support that will be provided to mentored K-awardees.  Information can be found on the NIDDK K-table.
