The NIDDK is requesting competing applications from the current awardees of RFA-DK-98-001: DIABETIC NEPHROPATHY: MECHANISMS, GENETIC DETERMINANTS, INTERVENTIONS. Applications submitted in response to the RFA were to participate in a multi-center study of the genetic causes of diabetic and non-diabetic nephropathy. The grant awards were made in September 1999. The current grantees possess the necessary infrastructure, study population base, organization, and leadership to address the important objectives of obtaining new therapies that will enhance our understanding of the genes that confer susceptibility to renal disease and diabetic complications.
