Change in Research Development Support on New NIDCD Mentored Clinician-Scientist Career Development (K-) Awards

Effective with the February 12, 2008 application submission date, the NIDCD will accept new and resubmission (revised) applications for its Mentored Clinical Scientist Development Award (K08; http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-06-512.html) and Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award (K23; http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-05-143.htm) programs requesting up to $80,000 per year for research-related costs (“research development support”).  Research development support includes, but is not limited to, costs for supplies, equipment, technical personnel, computational services, travel, and tuition and fees related to the research career development plan.  Heretofore, NIDCD has awarded up to $50,000 per year for research development support.  This policy change will not be applied retroactively to current K08 and K23 awards or to applications submitted prior to February 2008 that are pending award.
