March 6, 2024
National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)
The purpose of this Notice is to announce virtual "office hours" for potential applicants who may apply for the Intervention Research to Improve Native American Health (IRINAH) Program (R01 PAR-23-298, R21 PAR-23-299, and R34 PAR-23-285).
Despite tremendous strengths, Native American populations are exposed to considerable risk factors that significantly increase their likelihood of chronic disease, substance abuse, mental illness, oral disease, and HIV infection. The IRINAH program was created to support grant awards to develop, adapt, and test the effectiveness of health-promotion and disease-prevention interventions in Native American populations. IRINAH recipients also participate in discussions on the challenges and opportunities to improve health in Native American populations across the United States. The long-term goal of the IRINAH notices of funding opportunities (NOFOs) is to reduce mortality and morbidity in Native American communities.
Those interested in joining the office hours are strongly encouraged to review the 2024 IRINAH Webinar Recording and FAQs Document prior to the office hours. The office hours will be a time to ask questions to Program Officials and NIH staff from IRINAH-participating Institutes, Centers and Offices.
The Office Hours will not be recorded and those who cannot attend should direct their questions to the appropriate scientific contact in the IRINAH NOFOs. Applicants may contact NIH staff outside these Office Hours and may attend all office hours with any Institute, Center or Office.
NIH Institutes, Centers, and Offices participating in the Office Hours by day are below. Individual contact information can be found at R01 PAR-23-298, R21 PAR-23-299, and R34 PAR-23-285.
